The World’s First 21,413 TEU Mega Vessel Unloaded at COSCO SHIPPING Ports‘ Xiamen Ocean Gate Fully-automated Terminal

On May 27, 2017, the launching ceremony for the maiden voyage of OOCL HONG KONG, the world’s first container vessel with a capacity over 21,000 TEU, was held at COSCO SHIPPING Ports‘ Xiamen Ocean Gate Terminal.

Controlled and operated by COSCO SHIPPING Ports Limited, Xiamen Ocean Gate Terminal is the first fully automated terminal in China, with world-leading proprietary intellectual property rights. It has comprehensive intelligent control of the entire terminal – a way that is more accurate, higher efficient, economical and safer.

Meanwhile, the terminal is furnished with electric equipment, which makes it the world’s first terminal with no internal combustion engine-driven operations and a real pollution-free and zero-emission green terminal. The maiden voyage marks the first berthing of the world’s largest container vessel at Xiamen Port. The terminal has also become China’s first fully automated terminal that accommodates

the world’s largest container vessel in its maiden voyage.
